Question About Diminished and Polytonal Scales

Hi all. How are diminished and polytonal scales meant to be used? I have been trying to work with these scales, but have got nowhere.

I have been working with them in the form of jazz. I was trying to use a diminished whole-tone scale, and pop in and out of true diminished. For whatever reason, I can't thet the cords to resolve, due to some disagreements in the notes of the scale.
